Renault 12 Autumn 1969 appeared the Renault 12. It seemed both in design and engineering an older vehicle as the R16. It had a 1289cc 54hp or a 1289cc 60hp engine. A famous sporting model was presented at the end of 1970: Renault 12 Gordini. This model had the 1565cc engine from the R16TS. A break version was presented in September 1971 and an Automatic version at September 1973 (the R12TR). A facelift was given to the R12 at the start of model year 1976: bigger front grille, changed and bigger rear light units and horizontal instead of vertical ventilation slides. In 1980 the last R12 were being produced in France. In a.o. Argentina and Romania (Dacia!) this model was produced for several years more.
